Description
UTU JAMII's expertise extends far beyond project-specific
support. We are deeply invested in building capacity, raising awareness, and driving
long-term positive change through our comprehensive Facilitation, Training, and
Research services.
Building Communities Through Training:
Our diverse training portfolio empowers individuals and
organizations to tackle critical social issues:
- Gender
and Women's Rights: We train activists, community leaders, and
women's groups on gender equality, GBV prevention, women's participation
in decision-making, and transformative feminism. For example, we prepared
and delivered training manuals and sessions on SGBV and VAWC committee
formation for 11 villages surrounding the Mwadui mining area.
- Animation
and Participatory Action Research: We equip communities with powerful
tools for self-expression and advocacy. We trained animators from Mwadui
villages to communicate social issues effectively and conducted
Participatory Action Research in various contexts, including water rights
and women's economic rights.
- Leadership
and Governance: We train women councilors, aspirants, and youth
leaders on effective governance, gender representation, and political
participation. This empowers them to actively contribute to shaping their
communities.
Facilitating Meaningful Dialogue:
We believe in the power of open communication and
collaboration. Our facilitation expertise has helped diverse stakeholders
navigate complex issues and find solutions:
- Conflict
Resolution and Dispute Resolution: We trained research teams from
Zanzibar University on conducting focused group discussions for
Alternative Dispute Resolution, promoting peaceful conflict resolution
methods.
- Stakeholder
Engagement: We facilitated the establishment of grievance committees
and trained stakeholders on participatory facilitation, ensuring
communities have a voice in project development and decision-making.
Unveiling Insights Through Research:
Our qualitative research methodologies, including
Appreciative Inquiry (AI) and Most Significant Change (MSC), offer critical
insights for effective programming and social change:
- Community-Driven
Assessments: We conducted assessments of market women projects and
positive parenting initiatives using MSC stories, providing valuable
feedback for program improvement.
- Animation
and Participatory Action Research: We combined these powerful tools
in projects like researching water rights in Same district and women's
economic rights in Bunambiyu, generating crucial data and empowering
communities to advocate for their needs.
- Theatre
for Development: We have employed this engaging method in communities
like Newala and Lushoto to spark dialogue on social issues and promote
positive change.
UTU JAMII's Impact:
Through our Facilitation, Training, and Research activities,
we weave a tapestry of positive impacts:
- Empowered

skills, and confidence to advocate for their rights and drive positive
change within their communities.
